Commentary about "Sound art" Performance

The post talks about sound art. This kind of art is invisible, versatile and can be done anywhere, unlike other arts that need a space to be exposed, performed... This art can be live or recorded and all kinds of sounds can be used; peoples' voices, machinery sounds, nature sounds, technologically created sounds, etc.

As all other ways of art, it can be used to express emotions. I think sound is a very powerful tool to share emotions. For instance, a very intense sound can produce fear a soft and nature sound can produce peace and so on.

In this post I have seen a very good example of how to transmit with sound. It is a creation of Susan Philipsz, War Damaged Instruments, 2015. In it, she reproduces sounds made by damaged instruments in wars. The "noise" made by them causes sadness on the spectators, echoing the sadness caused by war.

In a film, for example, the music and sound play a very important role. If sad music is played, the scene will look sad, but if in the same scene mystery music is played, it will produce a mysterious environment.

In brief, sound is a potential instrument to create art and also to accompany art, with it we can create emotions and emphasize those that are being created with other kind of art.
