Block 3 Didactic School

My group and I have prepared a workshop to be done after a museum visit, it works with the creativity of children and their capacity to express themselves and to share with others. It is thought to be carried out after a visit to Fundació Joan Miró in Barcelona.

  1. Introduction activity:

Go to the beach or the mountain and take some elements of the nature (rocks, plants, shells…) that they will later use for both sculpture and painting.

  1. Painting activity:

We will make 4 groups and each of them will have to share how Miró's work inspires them and decide what final result they want to obtain in the mural. When they have the idea decided each group will have to make their mural using paint and some of the elements they have taken in their trip.

  1. Sculpture activity:

Each student will make a clay sculpture about an abstract character that does not exist in real life, they can also paste the elements they have found. While it is still wet, they can also paste fabrics and rope (to make marks), and once it is dry they will paint it using only primary colours. This part is inspired in how Miró did his sculptures.

  1. Expo:

Each group will expose their mural and talk about their inspiration when doing it, after all the expositions, the 4 murals will be put together so that it looks like a whole one. The sculptures would be exposed in front of it.

We have taken inspiration for the sculpture's activity from a taller called "Noves Amistats" that the foundation offers, it consists of creating a sculpture with materials as a costume.

From https://www.accessart.org.uk/ we have seen a workshop that consists of "Transforming Objects", using objects of the nature or other to create art, in this case painting them. After seeing this activity and knowing the methods that Miró had, we have thought of introducing elements of the nature to the creations to transform them into art. Also, in "three fun ways to paint" (https://www.tate.org.uk/kids) we have seen the use of other objects in creating art and givin textures.

For the sculpture we have had inspiration from "Make a Junky Funky Sculpture: make a fantastic balancing sculpture exploring shapes and colours" which uses multiple shapes, objects and colours.
